Even though Jane Simpson has spent a lot of time imagining what it would be like if Henry VIII ever time-traveled to the present day, when he actually shows up in her bedroom it’s kind of the last thing she ever saw coming.

But now he’s here and she’s got to figure out how to get him back to 1536 or risk altering the time-space continuum…or something. After accidentally teaming up with Oliver Griffin, a professor of Tudor history who hates Henry VIII, Jane discovers she has three days to help Henry break into the Metropolitan Museum of Art and access a portal back to the 1500s. 

But it’s going to take some doing. Henry has unwittingly become internet famous, Jane is falling in love with whoever is behind an anonymous online Henry VIII account, and Oliver is having some sort of existential crisis because Henry’s old-fashioned relationship advice seems actually to be working on Jane, whom he’s falling for against his will.

Can Henry VIII-who isn’t even supposed to be here-sort things out in the present before he’s sent back to the past forever? Only time will tell.
