For Parents

Grown-ups aren’t the only ones who love to read and write. Do you have a budding novelist on your hands? A voracious reader? A pint-sized journalist? Or maybe your child is struggling to engage with reading or can’t find books he/she likes to read. Maybe writing doesn’t come easily and feels like a chore.

I have over ten years of experience in elementary education. I believe that a love of reading and writing should be nurtured early on. I believe there’s a book for every kid. I believe a budding writer should be encouraged and taken seriously. Here’s how I can help:

Personalized Reading List

You tell me about your child (age, interests, reading level, favorite books, etc.) and I send you a list of ten books picked just for him/her. Is your child a reluctant reader? I can suggest books that might pique his/her interest. Has he/she read every single thing in the library? I’ve got some titles he/she might not have tried.

$40

Story Development

Has your child written a story? Does he/she have dreams of becoming a published writer one day? Why not have his/her story reviewed by a real, live editor? I will read your child’s story and offer age-appropriate, positive feedback, as well as concrete suggestions for how to improve. (Feedback can either be in writing or via phone/video call.)

$150 (up to 5 double spaced pages, $10 for each additional page)

Novel Development

Has your child completed a novel? Has he/she started a novel but isn’t sure exactly how to finish it? Just like grown-ups do, he/she might need an editor! I will read your child’s draft and offer constructive, age-appropriate feedback for how to improve.

$0.025/word for finished drafts ($150 minimum)
